Meet some of the women behind Alaska Chicks Co
Thank you for joining us on our brand new blog journey! We want you to get to know us a little and see how we like to get out and enjoy Alaska!
Crystal (manager of Alaska Chicks) with her husky mix Jase who obviously loves her! Photo taken at K'esugi Ken campground in Denali State Park with Denali out in full sun behind. I went on a gorgeous winter camping/cross country ski trip to capture this photo. I am learning to enjoy winter activities, I used to hate winters in Alaska! Getting out to cross country ski, winter hiking and camping make winter much less miserable! I was born and raised in interior Alaska and have moved around the state some as an adult but never left. The biggest lesson I've learned over the past few years is proper gear makes all the difference, invest in quality gear and you will get out more because it will be more enjoyable! Most days you can find me somewhere on the Butte, my favorite quick workout.
Carly (Crystal's assistant - she gets to do everything Crystal no longer wants to do! haha). If you want to be challenged to push yourself harder go with Carly! Carly grew up in Palmer, Alaska where she learned to love the outdoors with her family. Carly completed her first 3 mountain running races over this past summer with amazing results. She is gearing up to start training for the upcoming season. She loves backcountry skiing/snowboarding, downhill biking, kayaking, mountain running, climbing and is learning cross country skiing.
Ella, community outreach coordinator - not sure what that means, but Ella has never met a stranger! Enjoying cresting the top of the climb coming out of Skinny Lake on Kesugi Ridge in Denali State Park, getting love from her great dane Willow and Jase - yah we like to hike and camp together. Ella loves all things outdoors, skiing (both skate and classic), hiking, running, camping and fat biking. Ella has been back in Alaska for 8 years (she grew up in Wasilla) after serving as missionaries in Africa with her husband. If you want to be inspired in your faith and your fitness just go hang out with Ella, her energy and enthusiasm are contagious!
